Greetings! I'm Wayne Lawson, Executive Director of the Ohio Arts Council. You are about to take an interactive tour through the most extensive research effort ever conducted by our organization. We were able to gather information about the arts, public perception and Ohio's cultural environment from every corner of the state. This research will provide the Ohio Arts Council and state-level decision makers with the information necessary to make fact-based policy decisions about the future of the arts and culture in Ohio. We challenge you to study the data, visit the website and choose what information is relevant to your organization and the work that you do.

This State of the Arts Report will be put into action. The Ohio Arts Council has been awarded a three-year $1.1 million grant from the Wallace-Reader's Digest Funds to implement the findings and to increase the public's access to and participation in the arts and culture in our state. Building on the foundation of research in the State of the Arts Report, the Ohio Arts Council is entering a new phase of planning to broaden, deepen and diversify the role of the arts in local communities.

Please take a few moments to explore and acquaint yourself with the wealth of information in this report. And on behalf of my board and staff members, I thank you for your dedication to building Ohio through the arts.
