Conclusion

The Ohio Arts Council would like to thank the countless organizations and individuals whose expertise, creativity and perseverance helped make the State of the Arts Report a reality. Since April 1998, the OAC staff, advisory committee and outside contractors have been immersed in the planning, research and production of this comprehensive report. For the Ohio Arts Council, the State of the Arts Report will translate into a thorough evaluation of our programs and the beginning of a new phase of strategic planning. The information from the State of the Arts Report will be the foundation for our 2002-2005 strategic plan.

A three-year grant from the Wallace-Reader's Digest Funds will enable us to put the State of the Arts Report to use at the community level by supporting local initiatives and programs with partner organizations. This grant will help us to increase cultural participation throughout the state. The CD-ROM and website are designed to facilitate interactions between the many individuals and organizations who have a stake in this research.

The Ohio Arts Council welcomes feedback and questions on the wealth of information contained in this report. For everyone interested in building the arts in Ohio, the State of the Arts Report is only the beginning.
