The State of the Arts Report Advisory Committee's Mission and Vision Statements along with Goals and Objectives

Mission Statement

The State of the Arts Advisory Committee will assess the vitality of the arts in Ohio based on cultural, educational, and economic indicators; survey the people of Ohio to ascertain the public perception of the arts, and in turn report the findings to the people of Ohio.

Vision Statements

  • Addressing the needs of the stakeholders.
  • Getting a handle on "what's out there," in terms of arts and culture.
  • Assessing the vitality of the arts using economic, educational, cultural, and regional indicators.
  • Gaining an understanding of the public's perception of the arts.
  • Developing a report to present the data and to make recommendations and suggestions based on the findings.

Goals and Objectives

  • To identify the needs and concerns of the various stakeholders.
  • To create workable and effective indicators and measures for the collection and analysis of data on the arts and culture in Ohio.
  • To survey the field: a) census of the arts and culture organizations, and b) what is out there by region or areas smaller that the state; and c) what is out there as a function of cultural, racial, socioeconomic, or demographic variables.
  • To assess the art in Ohio through economic, educational, and cultural, and regional indicators.
  • To acquire an accurate picture of the public's perception of the art in Ohio.
  • To examine the relationships between public perception and the condition of the arts in Ohio.
  • To develop a report of the state of the arts in Ohio.
  • To make recommendations and suggestions based on the findings.
