Libraries, universities, festivals and cultural organizations are nonprofit organizations that may also provide arts programming. Their missions are educational, social and community-based, and the arts are a means to further those missions. A sample for each group was developed using the following databases and directories: Libraries ­ State of Ohio's library directory Universities – Ohio Board of Regents' directory of colleges and universities Festivals – Ohio Arts Council's 2000 Festivals and Competitions Directory Cultural Organizations – National Center for Charitable Statistics (NCCS) (Urban Institute, Washington DC) 1998 Transaction File. This Group included a wide array of organizations, historical societies, botanical and horticultural organizations, zoos, and social service organizations.
